MacuMira Microcurrent Treatment
MacuMira is a Health Canada-licensed Class II medical device that delivers low-level microcurrent through closed eyelids and is used in Canada for selected patients with dry age-related macular degeneration.
What the treatment is
Treatment is non-invasive and does not involve an eye injection or surgery. A device rests over the closed eyelids while low-level microcurrent stimulation is delivered.
Is it right for me?
Not every patient with AMD is an appropriate candidate. Your retina specialist will review your diagnosis, other eye conditions, medical history, implanted electronic devices, and treatment goals before recommending therapy.
Important
MacuMira is not a cure for AMD and does not replace treatments that may be needed for wet AMD or other retinal disease. Ask your retina specialist what outcome is realistic for your specific condition.
